The Global Shapers Harare Hub, which is an initiative of the World Economic Forum wanted to join the United Nations in celebrating the 2020 World Environment Day. To help celebrate this day, the Harare Hub hosted a joint Webinar with the African Climate Reality project in order to help create awareness and stimulate dialogue about the environment and biodiversity.
My task was to help promote the Webinar by designing easy to share social media posts during the run up to the event.
My task was to help promote the Webinar by designing easy to share social media posts during the run up to the event.

To help to keep the target audience interested and informed about World Environment Day, as well as build anticipation, I decided to design social media count down fliers. These were posted everyday on the Harare Hub social media accounts, with captions that had interesting fun facts about the environment and biodiversity.

The marketing budget for this webinar was $0 so the webinar could not be boosted on social media. Therefore, to help promote the webinar beyond the immediate network of the Harare Hub, I designed fliers for the webinar moderator, speaker and panelists that they could share organically everyday on through their social media accounts. These fliers would also help to get the audience interested in the webinar by giving them a brief background of each of the panelists and the speaker.

This social media campaign helped to create significant interest into the event as well as the Harare Hub. The Harare Hub's social media accounts saw a 306 percent increase in new page likes, more than 80 new page followers and an increase in page views of over 63 percent. The webinar itself had a reach of over 1000 on Facebook alone with over 200 users participating in the webinar on the Facebook as well as Zoom.
